Program Overview
National University Virtual High School (NUVHS) offers the premier high school online learning experience. Formed in January 2004, NUVHS strives to provide students the opportunity to achieve academic excellence through an online medium.

A virtual high school is a school without geographical limits. NUVHS offers classes to students around the world. With confidence and excitement, the National University System developed NUVHS to meet the needs of young people.

Students are able to enroll in NUVHS courses throughout the year.  At NUVHS, students can complete a full semester course in as few as four or as many as 16 weeks.

Some highlights of our student-centered academic programs include:

• curricula designed to meet or exceed California and national standards
• instructor-led courses taught by highly qualified, certified teachers who are specially trained in providing online instruction
• 24/7 access to courses, with technical support available at any time
• frequent, meaningful communication among instructors and students
• special attention to students' preferred learning styles
• access to one of the nation's largest e-libraries

NUVHS strives to create an online learning environment that is active, engaging, and cooperative.

Dear Students and Parents,

On behalf of the National University System, I want to thank you for your interest in the National University Virtual High School (NUVHS).  It is the goal of NUVHS to offer an exciting and innovative online learning format that goes far beyond the more traditional, correspondence format to build community for students, parents, and teachers. 

The National University System was established in 2001 as an extension of National University's mission of making lifelong learning accessible, challenging, and relevant to a diverse population of learners.  The System consists of a community of allied institutions that share the core values of meeting the changing and diverse educational demands of a global population and serve a diverse constituency that extends beyond National University's adult student body to other underserved populations that have been deprived of educational opportunities.

Charged with the task of offering you a premiere online high school alternative, NUVHS provides access to high-quality, relevant programs.  Whether you are looking for advanced placement, dual credit, or individually paced classes, it is my hope that you find the educational opportunity that you have been seeking in NUVHS.
